As I sit here writing this article, I can feel the heat of the early morning sun on my face as it shines down and stretches out along my wall. Finally, spring has sprung and after a long, cold winter, summer quickly approaches. Beautiful though it is, there is no denying the increasing clarity of the impacts global warming is having on our world. Carbon emissions from vehicles are a huge part of this problem; the production of the vehicles, the transport and use of pollutive fuels...etc.

If you're using active transportation, hopefully you can "celebrate" at the Bike to Work Week celebration station on Saturday, June 3 from 10 am to 2 pm by the fire hall in Ganges.

And don't worry if you haven't registered yet; even a week after Bike to Work Week is over, there's still time to log in your kilometers here. Just keep track of your distances from May 29 - June 4 and log them in.

If you would like to join a team, the Island Pathways team is always happy to accept new riders.

Happy cycling.
