Bike to Work Week Nanaimo is a community event that celebrates active and fun ways to commute to work, school, or other activities. 

WHY PARTICIPATE TO BIKE TO WORK WEEK?

  • Win awesome prizes! -- Log your trips for a chance to win a cycling trip to Lisbon for two! You can also win a bike from Arrowsmith! 

  • Celebration Stations -- Stations around Nanaimo will be offering free drinks, snacks, bike inspections, and great prizes. 

  • Discover active transportation routes around Nanaimo!

  • Reduce CO2 emissions -- each km cycled avoids about .20 kg of CO2 emissions (compared to driving).

  • Fun -- It’s a great time to be out and about on a bike with your team or with other cyclists in the community

  • If you registered last year, all you have to do is login and you are registered for this year's event.
  • If you've never registered before, click on Register and take a few minutes to sign up FREE!

PRIZES

To qualify for the Grand Prize Trip Draw to Lisbon

You must log kilometers for at least one trip that you choose to ride your bike instead of drive a motor vehicle to during Bike to Work & School Week, May 28 - June 3, 2018 (for example, if you choose to ride a bike instead of drive a motor vehicle to work, school, the gym, run errands, meet a friend for coffee, etc.). Enter the Exodus Prize Draw here: https://www.exodustravels.com/ca/cyclingBC-registration Note: if you enter, you will only qualify if you have logged a trip during May 28 – June 3, 2018.

This grand prize trip package includes economy class round trip airfare from the nearest international airport, hotel accommodations, a local leader and planned routes and itineraries with support vehicles to follow. To qualify for the Arrowsmith bike in Nanaimo

Come by at least one Celebration Station during the week and fill out a ballot (see Celebration Stations schedule down this page). A name will be drawn at random from all the Celebration Station entries. The more stations you visit, the more entries you'll have. :-)

Most Enthusiastic Team and Spice Up My Bike Challenges 

This year, our Enthusiasm Award is changing slightly, and we are adding a Spice Up My Bike challenge: two ways to show how biking can be fun and creative!

Submissions will be posted on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and may be used for future promotions in a variety of presentation formats. Only submit an entry if you and your team are comfortable with this. The trophies and prizes will be awarded at the Wrap-Up Party Friday June 1 at Bowen park..

Wonderful chalk art, how to put a bike on a bus, spiced up bikes, theft-deterrent bike registry, inspiring prayers and words from community leaders and that was all before an amazing lunch!

Planning your route? The 2018 Celebration Schedule is ready. Hurray!
Stop by for a drink, a snack, and chat with fellow cyclists.

Be sure to enter for prizes! The bike grand prizes will be awarded at the Wrap Up event on Friday Jun 1st, and you can only enter for that at a Celebration Station (or through your school event)! The more stations you visit, the more entries you'll have.

Get on your bike and ride!

You can take part in Bike to Work Week or Bike to School Week in lots of different ways. Register as an individual, a team member, or a team leader. However you participate, it's good for you, the community, and the environment! Most of all, it's fun.
